Birdhouses have been used in America since before the first settlers came. They, like the indigenous people they learned from, built the houses to shelter the birds from harsh winters and to encourage them to breed and multiply. The structure of the houses has been improved on throughout the years, many resembling the owners own homes, churches… Today birdhouses are used primarily as decor and can just as easily be found adding whimsy to a living room as interest to a backyard. At Weathered Nest we have birdhouses and feeders  of every shape and size. We carry vintage birdhouses and birdhouses made from repurposed barn wood. Our birdhouses are made to be used, they are not just decorative.
